Ronald Edward Philpott (BEM) (16/1/1937 - 3/8/2026)


A Funeral Service will be held at Vincent’s Funerals, Parklands Chapel 113 Bass Hwy Burnie, at 11am Monday, 10 August 2026, family and friends are invited to attend.  The service will be followed by a private cremation.

Ron joined Tasmania Police on 12 August 1958 and served for 35 years and 3 months prior to his retirement on 26 November 1993
Ron joined the RPAT on 5 December 1995 and remained a member prior to his passing at 89 years of age, whilst living at Burnie.
Ron was appointed to the RPAT Executive Committee in December 1997 and served as North West Vice President for 11 years.

At the funeral of a deceased former police officer, the following reading, which has been adopted by both State and Federal police services, may be read at the service if requested by the family. The Ode was originally written by Western Australia Police Senior Sergeant Des Noonan in conjunction with the then-Western Australian Police Chaplain, Reverend Barry May.

As the sun surely sets,
Dawn will see it arise,
For service above self,
Demands its own prize.

You have fought the good fight,
Life’s race has been run,
And peace your reward,
For eternity begun.

And we that are left,
Shall never forget,
Rest in peace, friend and colleague,
For the sun has now set.

We will remember.
WE WILL REMEMBER.
Hasten the dawn.
